Mesa Burdick Dancing the role of the "Cow" in Tanabata: The Story of Orihime & Hikoboshi
Mesa was born in Sunnyvale, California. She began her training with Ballet San Jose in 2009, where she would eventually transition into their studio company. She grew up dancing roles such as Clara and the White Swan. Mesa began building her repertoire as a trainee with Silicon Valley Ballet in 2016, dancing Corps de Ballet roles in ballets such as Alicia Alonzo’s Giselle and Karen Gabay’s The Nutcracker. During this time, she was also invited to work with Smuin Ballet in their performance of The Christmas Ballet. In 2018, she moved to Portland, Oregon where she joined Oregon Ballet Theater's Second Company. She danced Corps de Ballet roles in several ballets including George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker, August Bournonville's Napoli, and Ben Stevenson’s Cinderella. Mesa joined the Sacramento Ballet in 2019 where she currently still dances. This is Mesa's first year performing with Sensory Friendly Dance.
