2021 Performances:After a year of stalled programming due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we presented Ron Cunningham's delightful Peter and the Wolf ballet on August 21, 2021 for 300 audience members in-person at The Sofia, home of B Street Theatre, as well as for audiences across the country via a live stream! Then, Sacramento filmmakers Natalie Manning and Ryan Wooten transformed our live performance into a movie that patrons could enjoy with loved ones at home over the holiday season.

2019 PerformanceOur inaugural performance at The Sofia, home of B Street Theatre, showcased choreography by Capital Dance Project choreographers, and professional ballet dancers, Kaori Higashiyama, Rex Wheeler, Shania Rasmussen, and Richard Smith. We weaved the ballets together to introduce our audience to the world of ballet and to showcase the many ways dance can tell stories, express feelings, and illuminate the music. After the performance, our artists joined our audience in the lobby for coloring activities, a meet-and-greet, and to take pictures!
This performance was made possible by Kaiser Permanente and generous individual donors. |

2018 PerformanceFor our second annual performance, we presented various works from Capital Dance Project's Behind the Barre 2018 performance choreographed by local dancers in collaboration with local artists and musicians at the Crocker Art Museum. We engaged our audience in movement, the Crocker Art Museum created a beautiful "Quiet Zone" complete with artistic activities, and together inspired joy through an inclusive environment. The Sacramento Kings Dancers also collaborated with us on a group dance that everyone could participate in as part of the performance!
This performance was made possible by a 2018 California Arts Council matching Local Impact grant and individual donors. |

2017 Inaugural PerformanceIn 2017 a group of like-minded individuals came together to present Sacramento's first-ever Sensory Friendly Dance performance. With funding from a Sacramento Republic FC grant, sponsorship from the Sacramento Kings Foundation, and support from Kulture City, Sensory Friendly Dance invited families into the historic Crest Theatre for a performance designed to be inclusive to Sacramento's neurodiverse community. For many families, it was the first time they ever stepped foot into a theater to enjoy a live dance performance.
This performance was made possible thanks to a Glory Glory Sacramento Grant from the Sacramento Republic FC and the Sacramento Regional Community Foundation. |
