Julia Feldman Dancer in Tanabata: The Story of Orihime & Hikoboshi
Born in Davis, California, Julia Feldman was trained under the direction of Pamela Hayes at Pamela Hayes Classical Ballet. She began her professional career in 2011 as an artist of the Sacramento Ballet. During her time in the company, she has danced principal and featured roles in works choreographed by George Balanchine, Ron Cunningham, Jodie Gates, Adam Hougland, Ma Cong, Amy Seiwert, Penny Saunders, Septime Webre, Darrell Grand Moultrie, and Gabrielle Lamb, among others. Highlights have included performing the central couple in Jodie Gates’ Keep Me Wishing in the Dark, 1st pas de deux in Ma Cong’s Bloodrush, the pas de deux from George Balanchine’s Agon, and the role of Ophelia in Stephen Mills' Hamlet. Julia has been fortunate to choreograph for the Sacramento Ballet’s annual program ‘Beer & Ballet’ since 2012, as well as for the School of The Sacramento Ballet, and the main Company. In 2019, Julia was one of four choreographers selected for the National Choreographer’s Initiative in Irvine, Ca, under the direction of Molly Lynch. Julia was one of 3 commissioned choreographers to co-create a new Nutcracker for the Sacramento Ballet in 2021, under the direction of Anthony Krutzcamp.
