Emi Mizuno
Set Designer for Tanabata: The Story of Orihime & Hikoboshi
Artist Emi Mizuno was born and raised in Japan. She moved to the U.S. in 2008 and graduated from University of California, Irvine with B.A in Studio Arts. In recent years, her focus has been theatrical prop design and stage design. Most recently, she has worked for Sacramento Ballet's 2021 The Nutcracker production and Capital Dance Project. While working for theatrical productions, she continues to create her own artworks. Her art often focuses on current issues in our society, but other times, she just makes what she thinks is beautiful. She likes the combination of geometric and organic, natural and man-made, light and shadow. Her work is delicate, intricate, and detailed. She is excited to be a part of Sensory Friendly Dance this year to collaborate her artwork with ballet, and bring the best of both worlds to the audiences.
