Lauryn Winterhalder Groh Dancing the role of "Orihime" in Tanabata: The Story of Orihime & Hikoboshi
A native of Santa Cruz, California, Lauryn began her ballet training at Santa Cruz Ballet Theatre under the direction of former Sacramento Ballet artists Diane McLarty Cypher and Robert Kelley. She attended summer intensive programs on full scholarship at Pacific Northwest Ballet School. Lauryn joined the Sacramento Ballet in 2010 and recently retired to pursue other life goals. As a Sacramento Ballet dancer, Lauryn has performed a wide variety of acclaimed ballets including principal roles in ballets by George Balanchine, Ron Cunningham, Amy Seiwert, Septime Webre, Ma Cong, Edwaard Liang, Trey McIntyre, Jermaine Spivey, Adam Hougland, Gabrielle Lamb, Rex Wheeler, and Julia Feldman. Some of her most memorable performances include Odette/Odile in Swan Lake, the title role in Giselle, Kitri in Don Quixote (Act I), Juliet in Romeo and Juliet (excerpts), Liberty Bell in Star & Stripes, Polyhymnia in Apollo, Sangunic in The Four Temperaments, and leading roles in Balanchine’s Agon, Rubies and Concerto Barocco. Lauryn has performed in Sensory Friendly Dance productions since our founding year.
