2023 Summer Fundraiser for:
Tanabata: The Story of Orihime & Hikoboshi

This year, choreographer Kaori Higashiyama will create a brand new children's ballet based on the Japanese Fairytale, Tanabata: The Story of Oribime & Hikoboshi for our 2023 summer performance.
Your tax deductible donation will support the artists and production costs to bring the story to life.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 for this brand new production.
What does your donation support?
  • $10 - Sponsors part of our costs for craft materials in the theater lobby so audiences can interact and get creative with this year's story.
  • $50 - Sponsors part of our printing costs for performance programs and educational materials. While we make best efforts to reduce our environmental impact by providing digital materials, we believe that in hand documents at a performance or outreach event can extend opportunities for multidisciplinary learning through the arts.
  • $100 - Sponsors part of our marketing costs so we can reach new and returning audiences.
  • $500 - Sponsors part of the payment for our choreographer, dancers, collaborating artists, film makers, and director.
  • $1,000 - Sponsors part of the cost for our big ticket items, the theater, insurance, and production elements.

Big Day of Giving 2023

On Thursday, May 4 2023, Big Day of Giving - our community $13.7M to the region's nonprofits that make Sacramento home. Thanks to the generosity of a Sensory Friendly Dance anonymous donor, contributions to our campaign were matched. We raised $9628 on Big Day of Giving which will allow us to fulfill our accessibility mission with:

  • 100 sponsored tickets to offer families with a financial need to attend our 2023 performance free of charge.
  • Subsidize our general admission ticket prices so we can offer 300 tickets at just $5 per person. (That means a family of four could attend our show for just $20).
Thank You Sacramento!
