Katya Schloemann
Dancing the role of the "Cat" in Peter and the Wolf

Katya was born in Mission Viejo California and began dancing at the age of 3. She trained at The School of the Sacramento Ballet, on scholarship, and performed in several productions with the Sacramento Ballet. After graduating, Katya became a trainee with The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago. She was then promoted to Studio Company, and was awarded the Luminarts Fellowship for Dance. During her time at the Joffrey Studio Company, Katya danced lead roles in ballets including Don Quixote, Swan Lake, works by Gerald Arpino, Firebird, and Paquita as well as in many new contemporary works. She received opportunities to tour and perform with The Joffrey Ballet and was the “Sugar Plum Fairy” in Peoria Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker. Most recently, Katya was dancing with the Dresden Semperoper Ballet in Germany. There she performed in full length classical ballets and experienced dance in Europe.
